I may hang back in the corner, observing and not saying much of anything. I may catch your eye and smile timidly. I may say something to you, I may not. 

 

I may offer hugs and offer to listen. I may offer my opinions. I may be superficial; I may be substantive. 

 

I may be looking for the path; I may be leading you to it.

 

I may ask a lot of questions; I may already know the answers.

 

I may be that drunk girl who talks too loud, cusses and makes dirty jokes.

 

I may tell you to come visit and then you are always welcome.

 

I may come to your house, put away your dishes in the wrong place, make you listen to country music, make you watch sappy movies.

 

I may cry; I hope you have tissues.

 

I may be stuck in the ditch, looking for a tow.

 

I may be scared, but I won’t run away.

 

I promise to be real. This is me.
